We also offer several non-invasive methods in treating psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. NUVB- We offer the areas only free standing light box that treats eczema and dermatitis. PUVA- PUVA is useful for patients with various skin disorders, including psoriasis, dermatitis, polymorphic light eruption and mycosis fungoides. The number and the frequency of PUVA treatments will depend on the condition being treated and individual factors.
We are the first physicians in our area to utilize the XTRAC Excimer Laser to effectively treat mild to moderate plaque psoriasis lesions. The laser safely delivers UVB phototherapy to the targeted lesions, meaning healthy surrounding skin is not adversely exposed to UV light. The sessions are performed in our office and are simple, quick, and painless.
We use Levulan Photodynamic Therapy system to treat mild to moderate sun damage on the face, scalp, and arms. Levulan PDT is an advanced 2-step treatment and is unique because it is the only one that uses light to destroy Actinic Keratosis, the first step before a skin cancer. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) With Levulan is a treatment that combines light and a special light-activated topical photosensitizing agent called Levulan. Upon application to skin, Levulan is absorbed by actinic keratosis cells and converted into a substance making these cells highly sensitive to specific light. The skin is then exposed to a special light which destroys damaged skin cells. Photodynamic treatment removes sun damaged pre-cancerous zones and actinic keratoses. Skin texture, fine lines, pores, acne, oil glands, and blotchy pigmentation are also improved with the treatment.
