Beginning in 2026, Dermatology Associates Skin & Cancer Center is proud to launch the Dermatology Experience & Readiness Medical Scholars (DERMS) Program—a paid, one-year, full-time opportunity for outstanding students who have completed their undergraduate degree and are preparing to apply to medical school or physician assistant school. Our mission is to foster a lifelong commitment to learning and clinical excellence by providing a structured, hands-on experience that strengthens your application and prepares you for a successful career in medicine.
Dermatology Experience & Readiness Medical Scholars (DERMS) Program
Program Details
- Locations: Panama City, with travel to Panama City Beach, Chipley, and Dothan locations
- Annual Cohort Size: 10 students
- Duration: 1 year, full-time (paid position)
- Position Title: Clinical Assisting Student
This program is designed for students taking a gap year before entering Medical school, PA school, or Nursing school. As a Clinical Assisting Student, you will work closely with our physicians, PA’s, NP’s, and clinical teams, gaining invaluable, real-world patient care experience.
What You’ll Learn
During your year with us, you will receive comprehensive training in:
- Patient workups and documentation
- Surgical procedure setup and assistance
- Patient numbing techniques
- Exam room cleaning, stocking, and preparation
- Direct patient interaction and care
This experience will help you develop essential clinical skills, deepen your medical knowledge, and make your application to medical or PA school more competitive.
